Cowgirl in the City

One of my favorite parts of Brooklyn is Dumbo. If it wasn’t so hard to get to Dumbo from Manhattan, I would totally live there. One of the reasons I love Dumbo so much is the Brooklyn Bridge Park. The visual takes you through cobblestone streets contrasted by old industrial factories and warehouse spaces in Dumbo to the running paths of the Brooklyn Bridge Park. At the water, you get a clear view of the Manhattan skyline, as well as the iconic Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges.
I put together a bold look with a fringe leather jacket from BCBG Max Azria paired with a taupe-colored statement skirt from BCBG Max Azria, taupe shoes by Chinese Laundry and a basic nude tank top by BCBG Max Azria. The only backdrop that I could picture this outfit with was at the Brooklyn Bridge Park. I wanted to contrast the bold look of my outfit against the bold Brooklyn Bridge layered over the blue sky and Manhattan skyline.
Once Ken Jones and I were shooting in the park, I noticed some industrial Brooklyn-esq buildings. We shot a couple of photographs in front of this building and then finally found the rocky coast that I was looking for in front of the Manhattan Bridge. I wanted the last shot in this series of images to invoke a feeling of taking over the city. This is one of the few areas of the city where you can capture an image of yourself appearing bigger than the buildings of New York City.
